Police Minister Michelle Roberts says an angry mob has “no excuse” for a violent rampage at the supermarket where a boy was allegedly locked in a cage by the store owner for stealing a soft drink.
The incident happened at Harvey Norman on Scarborough Beach Road in Osborne Park about 1am. The youngster, who appears to be aged as young as 10, used a brick to smash a glass front door and step inside.
WA police released CCTV images of a man who they say can assist with inquiries following the attack near King Street.
Rangers in the City of Perth have turned to wearing body cameras as an added safety measure.
